Ollie Gapper

My journey to woodworking and frame making is really what I consider to constitute the core competencies of my business. I have studied photography at BA, MA and now at Ph.D. level, working with practicing artists throughout my studies, most of whom have now become framing clients. I have extensive and ongoing experience in the curation and installation of exhibitions, affording me the particular knowledge required to fully understand the considerations necessary for a smooth and successful install. My passion for woodworking was sown in my early childhood by my fathers love of craft and of his shed. Years later, during my MA, something began to nurture that seed into something truly beautiful; a practice that has helped me cope with the academic rigour of Ph.D. study by offering creative outlet away from books and screens; a part of my life I feel truly lucky to have found. As I have worked to hone my skills in cabinet making, furniture design, and the craft elements of my discipline, I have also developed my sensitivity to the curation and design of frames and installation materials for artists. What I hope to offer is a service that marries the two often disparate worlds of fine art practice and frame making.
